Open Application Platform Docs

sMap

Superroute's map service and map SDKs for websites and apps.

sMap

Basemaps in five colour schemes, labels in the language you choose, and your own points, lines and areas, read from the sMap node nearest to each user.

Guides

The maps guide, interoperability, worked cases and the plan editor.

Capabilities

The map capabilities, their units and their calls.

Map keys

Create keys for your sites and apps and choose where each one works.

Map styles

Save custom styles and use them by their id.

Quick start

Create a map key for your site, then add the web SDK and a map. Other platforms install their package from the downloads page.

npm install @superrouteca/smap
import { Map } from '@superrouteca/smap';
import '@superrouteca/smap/smap.css';

const map = new Map({ container: 'map', apiKey: 'smk_…', style: 'light', center: [-79.38, 43.65], zoom: 11 });
map.ready.then(() => map.addPoints('stops', [{ lng: -79.38, lat: 43.65, name: 'A' }], { label: 'name' }));

Orders List (0)

Ten delivery routes from one depot in Toronto, planned on the road network and drawn as on Superroute’s route map with the sMap web SDK. Select a stop or a route for its details.

What sMap shows

Five colour schemes

Light, white, grayscale, dark and black. Changing the scheme keeps your layers.

Labels in any language

Place names in the language set on the map. Changing the language keeps your layers.

Your points, lines and areas

Hundreds of thousands of points, clustered or not, with lines and areas, drawn on the graphics processor.

3D buildings and areas

Buildings in 3D, and your own areas raised to a height you set.

Nearest node

Each map reads from the nearest sMap node and moves to the next one when a node does not answer.

Map keys and tokens

Map keys limited to your websites and apps, or short-lived tokens issued by your server.

Platforms

Map keys and tokens

A map key (smk_…) is placed in a page or app and works only for the sites and apps on its allowlist. A map token (sm1.…) is issued by your server with your Open Platform API token and expires after 60 seconds to 24 hours. Your API token is never placed in a page or app.

Offline regions

Android, iOS, Flutter and React Native apps can download an area of the map as one file of at most 500 MB and show it without a network for 30 days. A region is downloaded with a map token, or with a map key whose Allow offline regions switch is on. Read more

Styles and layers

Every map has five colour schemes and labels in any language. Change map elements with style layers and basemap options, save a custom style and use it as custom:<id>, read data files on the device and add layers from other map services.

The plan editor

The plan editor lets a person edit a plan of routes on a map. Each edit is one plan call with the whole plan; the plan is never stored on a server.

Map capabilities

The capabilities of the map family. Each page lists its REST, GraphQL and MCP calls side by side.

Capability Description Billed in
map.static Static maps (beta) call
map.tiles Map tiles (beta) tile_1k

Pricing

Maps use the capability map.tiles, switched on for your Open Platform account by Superroute. Tiles are billed per 1,000 (unit tile_1k). Issuing a map token is not billed. An offline region is billed as tiles when it is downloaded, once a day per region and key or token; showing it offline is not billed.

Access and billing

Map tiles are billed per 1,000 tiles under the map tiles capability. Map keys are created in the client portal; issuing a map token is not billed. map.tiles
